PREVENTIVE ORTHODONTICS

Preventive orthodontics provides dental professional with a way to identify and intercept the teeth problems in children that when caught early enough helps to avoid more aggressive and costlier treatment later on.

As your child grows certain problems may become apparent during their regular examination at the dentist.

Early orthodontics also known as "interceptive  treatment " means treatment that is performed while some baby teeth are still present.

By then your child has enough permanent teeth for an orthodontist to evaluate the developing teeth and jaws which in turn can provide a wealth of information.

The interceptive orthodontic treatment i.e. phase one or early orthodontic treatment typically begins around age of 8-9.

Phase two will begin around age 11 or older. The goal of early treatment is to correct the growth of the jaw and certain deep bite problem.

Growth modification

Growth modification is meant to take the advantage of body's natural growth to guide positioning of jaw.

Growth modification is most effective while the jaw is still developing which is around the time of puberty before the growth is complete.

Removable orthodontic appliances are orthodontic devices which can be taken out by the patient and are designed to apply forces to the teeth by means of springs, screws and other mechanical components.

Removable appliances are used for growth modifications during mixed dentition.
